Offering or Joining a Course

1 min read

Courses on Zora allow members to share knowledge, build confidence, and support each other’s growth. From language classes and financial literacy to digital skills and community healing — courses are one of the ways we centre learning from lived experience.

This guide covers how to offer a course and how to join one.

Offering a Course on Zora #

Who can offer a course? #

You must have a Premium account or be a Verified Community to create and offer a course. This helps maintain quality and trust on the platform.

If you’re not Premium yet, go to your profile settings and select Go Premium.

How to offer a course: #

  1. Go to the Courses section

    • From the main menu, select Courses, then click Create Course.

  2. Enter your course details
You will be asked to fill in:

    • Course Title – Clear and welcoming

    • Summary – A short explanation of what learners will gain

    • Full Description – Include topics, structure, schedule, and intended audience

    • Format – Online (with meeting links) or in-person (with venue)

    • Schedule – Start and end date, session frequency, and duration

    • Facilitator Info – Tell us who you are and your lived or professional experience

    • Accessibility Details – Optional, but strongly encouraged

    • Materials – List any required readings or tools, if relevant

    • Cost or Contributions – Courses can be free or paid (Zora does not handle payments)

  3. Choose visibility and enrolment settings

    • Public or invite-only

    • Open sign-up or approval required

    • Limit on participants (optional)

  4. Submit for review
All new courses are reviewed to ensure alignment with Zora’s community standards. Approval usually takes less than 24 hours.

Joining a Course on Zora #

  1. Browse the Courses section

    • You can explore courses by theme, location, or start date.

  2. Click on a course to learn more

    • Read the description, meet the facilitator, and check the schedule.

  3. Click Join or Apply

    • Some courses are open to all, others may require approval.

  4. Wait for confirmation

    • You will receive a notification once accepted or confirmed.

  5. Access course materials and discussions

    • Once enrolled, you can participate in any course threads, access shared resources, and connect with others in the cohort.

Tips for a good course experience #

  • Be clear, kind, and respectful — both as a learner and facilitator

  • Honour time and commitments

  • Keep discussions on topic and grounded

  • Offer support if you’re able, and ask for help if you need it

Zora courses are about sharing what we know, not showing off what we’ve learnt. They are open doors, not closed classrooms.
