Content Ownership & Licensing

Your Voice, Your Rights β€” and How We Support Both

At Zora Social, we believe in empowering users to share stories, resources, and ideas in a way that celebrates ownership and respects creative freedom. This article explains how ownership of content works on our platform, what rights you retain, and how we responsibly use what you share.

You Own What You Create #

Everything you publish on Zora β€” whether it is a post, comment, photo, event listing, or job advert β€” remainsΒ your intellectual property. That means:

  • You retainΒ full ownershipΒ of your original content.

  • You canΒ edit or deleteΒ your content at any time from your account.

  • We do not claim ownership over anything you create.

This commitment reflects Zora’s community-first values β€” your voice matters, and your contributions are yours.

What You Grant to Zora Social #

To operate the platform, we require limited rights to host and display your content. By posting on Zora, you give us aΒ non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licenceΒ to:

  • Display and distributeΒ your content on the platform

  • Promote or featureΒ public content as part of showcasing the community

  • Store and back upΒ content in our secure systems

This licence exists solely to support platform functionality and visibility. It does not give us the right to sell or repurpose your content outside of Zora.

Public vs Limited Content #

  • Public postsΒ may appear in public feeds, search results, and highlights.

  • Private contentΒ (messages, hidden posts, friends-only updates) will only be visible to intended recipients or circles.

You control the visibility of your content through post settings and account preferences.

Using Others’ Content #

Respect is mutual. You may not:

  • Reuse or republish another user’s content without permission

  • Copy, screenshot, or save posts that are private or restricted

  • Claim another user’s content as your own

If you believe your content has been misused by another user, report it to our team through the support page or emailΒ legal@zorasocial.uk.

Infringement & Takedown #

We take intellectual property seriously. If you believe your work has been infringed upon:

  1. Contact us withΒ proof of ownershipΒ and a clear explanation.

  2. Our legal team will review and may issue aΒ takedownΒ within 5 business days.

  3. Repeated or deliberate violations may result inΒ account restrictionsΒ or permanent suspension.

Archiving & Retention #

Even if you delete your content or account, copies may remain in:

  • OurΒ backup systemsΒ (for 30 to 90 days)

  • Archived versions (forΒ legal or complianceΒ reasons)

We purge all deleted user data within six months as per our privacy policy.

How are you feeling?
